Instrument & Controls Technician

To work in the installation, maintenance, repair and replacement of electrical, electronic and instrument systems and equipment to operate and maintain plant in accordance with business unit objectives to produce and test high quality products by performing the following duties.

Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

1. Performs on a daily basis difficult diagnostics and new installations to analyze problems associated with instrumentation and control systems and electrical systems using test equipment such as electronic meter and simulators.


2. Performs moderately challenging installations, calibrations, diagnostics, repairs, and replacements of instrumentation and control systems equipment.


3. Monitors compliance and communicates safety issues to personnel.


4. Reads, interprets, modifies and updates blueprints, schematics and diagrams in order to troubleshoot, repair, or modify equipment, and to accurately reflect current operating systems.


5. Monitors and makes visual inspections of control and instrumentation equipment to determine operating condition and perform preventative maintenance.


6. Maintains accurate inventory and maintenance logs


7. Installs, maintains, repairs, and tests electrical wiring systems, fixtures, motors, generators, transformers, lighting systems, and other industrial electrical and electronic equipment.


8. Tests equipment for potential defects.


9. Calibrates and installs instruments and related devices used for controlling automatic equipment for measuring flow, pressure and temperature.


10. Maintains adequate records relating to the installation, maintenance, testing, calibration and replacement of instruments, controls and related devices.


11. Must establish and maintain effective and professional relationships with work colleagues, supervisors and managers.


12. Attends project coordination meetings, staff meetings and all other required trainings.


13. Occasional travel to other CES facilities


Qualifications:

1. Strong operating and maintenance experience with complex systems such as rocket engines, gas turbines, and power generation systems


2. Ability & knowledge to perform routine maintenance work


Education/Experience:

Degree from College or University preferred; Electronics technician certification preferred.

Process control instrumentation certification preferred and/or 5-10 years related experience in the operation and maintenance of the power industry.


Computer Skills:

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have basic computers skills/proficiency in Microsoft Office/web-browsers. Experience with control logic is required; Rockwell Automation Software and RS Logix preferred.
