Advanced Technologies under Development

CES’ first generation product, the Direct Steam Gas Generator (“DSGG”), has been fully developed and is commercially available. To improve the net cycle efficiency and reduce levelized-cost-of-electricity (LCOE), CES is developing two advanced technologies:

Pressurized Oxygen Gas Generator

The Pressurized Oxygen Gas Generator (“POGG”) is a combustor product that improves upon the DSGG by increasing the operating pressure and minimizing the required final compression of the CO2 stream for sequestration.  Additionally, the POGG enhances the project economics of using high CO2 or “stranded” natural gas streams, and improves the overall thermal efficiency.

OXY-FUEL Turbine

An Oxy-Fuel Turbine (“OFT”) is a modified gas turbine that is able to significantly increase cycle efficiency by removing the need for air compressors or combustors, which are essential components of conventional turbines, thus reducing parasitic load and enabling approximately three times more power to be extracted from the turbine section.  CES can remove these components because drive gas from the oxy-combustor exits at optimal pressure and temperature, which essentially turns a conventional turbine into an oxy-fuel expander turbine.; CES’ development efforts to date have focused on modifying existing, proven gas turbine technology which has already been deployed extensively in the global market.
