CES Gas Generator Reaches 1,300 Hour Mark

March 10, 2006

The CES Gas Generator (GG) powering the company’s Zero-Emission Kimberlina Power Plant (near Bakersfield, CA) surpassed 1,300 cumulative operating hours and 10 months of exporting electrical power to the grid on February 17th. The GG is now in its final weeks of highly successful durability testing utilizing natural gas and will transition to use of a simulated synthetic gas (syngas) emulating the chemical composition of coal-derived syngas in April. The latter fuel is part of a DOE-funded technology advancement program designed to develop a syngas combustor able to produce emission-free electrical power from coal. The 1,300 operating hour milestone is another step increase in the reliability of the CES combustor.
