Kimberlina Plant Certified for Grid Power Production

March 15, 2005

On March 15th, the local utility (PG&E) witnessed and certified the ability of Kimberlina Zero-Emission Power Plant to successfully generate electrical power to the grid and meet safety and power management requirements. This extended the success of earlier testing by further demonstrating pre- and post-parallel (synchronizing) abilities, including frequency matching, power ramping, and control responsiveness of the CES gas generator and digital control system. The certification means CES can begin routine electrical power generation with electricity sales into the California spot market.

During today’s testing, the CES gas generator operated over four hours, exported more than one megawatt of net electrical power to the grid, and met all operational requirements. This event marks another significant milestone in demonstrating the durability and reliability of the CES gas generator and an auspicious beginning for the world’s cleanest fossil-fuel electrical power plant.
