The Honorable Brian C. Griffin has held numerous senior-level positions in both the public and private sectors. His distinguished public service career includes serving as a senior government official under three Presidents and two Governors.
In the private sector, he has served as both the Executive Vice President and General Counsel of a New York Stock Exchange listed oil and gas exploration company and previously served as the President of Clean Energy Systems, Inc.
Dr. Griffin received his undergraduate degree from Harvard University in 1974 and was selected as a Rhodes Scholar. As a Rhodes Scholar, he attended Oxford University where he received his British law degree. He also holds an American Juris Doctorate degree.
Roger Anderson
Board Member - CES
Fellow for Science
Mr. Anderson has served as a member of the Board of Directors since August of 1996. He also serves as the Fellow for Science at Clean Energy Systems, Inc., and is a co-founder of CES. He has served as a Principle Investigator on all of CES's early oxy-fueled gas generator development programs. He continues to provide scientific assessments and guidance to CES management. In his current position he oversees the process engineering activities at CES and leads new concept developments involving CES technologies for alternative fuels' combustion and product diversification.
Prior to the founding of CES, Mr. Anderson spent 39 years working for Aerojet, researching liquid rocket propellants and working on the development and testing of fluidized-bed driers and incinerators for low-level radioactive wastes. He has cumulative experience of more than fifty years in high pressure, high temperature combustion.
Mr. Anderson holds a Bachelor of Chemical Engineering degree from the University of Idaho. He holds numerous U.S. and foreign patents, and has authored several dozen technical papers, studies, and reports for government and industry.
Keith L. Pronske
President and CEO
Mr. Pronske has served as a member of the Board of Directors since 2001. He has also served as the President and Chief Executive Officer of Clean Energy Systems, Inc. since January 2003. Mr. Pronske joined CES in January 2001 as Vice President for Business Development. He is a mechanical engineer with more than thirty years experience in the power industry in North and South America and in Europe.
Prior to his work at CES, Mr. Pronske served as the Vice President of Business Development, Latin America, for Tractebel, Brussels, Belgium. At Tractebel, he was instrumental in acquiring and developing power plants, gas distribution systems, and energy companies with an aggregate equity investment in excess of $2 billion and an installed capacity in excess of 6,000 MW. Prior to working for Tractebel, Mr. Pronske worked for the AES Corporation.
Mr. Pronske holds a Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering degree from the University of California, Davis and a Master of Business Administration degree from San Francisco State.
Murray Propp
Board Member - Paxton Corp
Mr. Propp has served as a member of the Board of Directors since 2007. Mr. Propp is the Chief Operating Officer of Paxton Corporation, Calgary, Alberta, an enhanced oil recovery company involved with tertiary recovery of hydrocarbons He is a former principal in several major international engineering companies focused on the global petroleum industry, based in Calgary, Alberta, with 34 years of progressive oil and gas experience.
Mr. Propp holds a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Saskatchewan and has a Professional Engineer designation.
Guy Thornton
Board Member - Paxton Corp
Mr. Thornton has served as a member of the Board of Directors since 2007 and is currently President of Paxton Corporation. He brings over 25 years of senior management experience involving strategic development, finance and operational capabilities, in both the public and private sectors.
Previously, Mr. Thornton was the President of several subsidiaries and Senior Vice President of a multinational integrated forest products company. Mr. Thornton has acted as General Counsel, Chief Operating Officer and a Director of a large private company involved in land banking, land development, residential and commercial construction along with the manufacture and distribution of building components both in North American and in the Far East.
Mr. Thornton holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Brandon University and an LLB from the University of Manitoba.
Dick K Wertz
Board Member - CES
Dr. Wertz has served as a member of the Board of Directors since August of 1996. He was an enabling funder and co-founder of Clean Energy Systems, Inc. He served as company CEO from August 2001 through December 2002.
In addition to a distinguished career in medicine specializing in pathology in the United States and Europe, Dr. Wertz founded and developed three companies in the medical instrument and information technology fields, all of which were successfully acquired by multinational corporations.
Dr. Wertz obtained his undergraduate and medical education at Indiana University followed by a pathology internship at Yale University and substantial additional internships. Tom Kunde
Board Member - The AES Corporation
Mr. Kunde has been elected to the CES Board of Directors as of June 2012.
Mr. Kunde, of The Woodlands, TX, is currently working as the Director of Business Development in North America for the AES Corporation. Since joining AES in 1987, he has held a variety of positions in AES, most recently, Senior Vice President responsible for all of the company's operations and business development in the Asia region and prior to that Country manager for China. Mr. Kunde has held a variety of positions in operations, construction, project development and general management.
Prior to joining AES, Mr. Kunde worked as a Control System Engineer for a company focused on Enhanced Oil Recovery cogeneration projects in the California market.
Mr. Kunde holds a Bachelors Degree in Chemical Engineering from Oregon State University and is a licensed Professional Engineer in Chemical Engineering in the state of Oregon.
